Yesterday, after a few false starts due to terrible weather, our No Boundaries 5K training program began. (The is my second session, the first go round, I did not do my part and run on my own time. The program is designed to help you finish a 5K, but you still have to get the miles in on your own, too.)
It had snowed the night before, a light dusty snow that flew from the trees and swirled around in the sky. The sky was a beautiful deep blue, the air crisp. I was running with my youngest son, an eleven year old who quickly ran passed me. We began with a 2 minute walk and a 1 minute run. The total milage was 1.75 miles. I was comfortable with this pace because I have been running on a treadmill for a few weeks. Tonight, I heard from a friend I met in the last No Boundaries session. She was a first timer, too. She beat me by a few seconds in that infamous 5K. She is 70 years old. I will see her Tuesday at our next group run. I'd better be ready!
